At Your lightning in the sky, I shudder.
[1]
Your glory is a blanket that covers
every living thing.
[2]
I'm in awe at the majesty of who You are.
Your love is a seal burnt inside my heart.
[3]
All of the day I want to be where You are,
Holy Father.
[4]
And it feels like there's not enough praise inside of me!
[5]
With all these words, all my heart can sing is 'Holy!'
You are holy!
[6]
Jesus Christ,
You bled Your love, laid down Yourself,
and gave me Life.
[7]
In naked shame You hung and You were lifted high.
Here I lay in awe and wonder.
[8]
I am afraid,
for no one's ever sacrificed and loved me this way!
[9]
So on my face I fall under Your heavy grace.
Here I lay in awe and wonder.
[10]
I'm in awe at the majesty of who You are.
Your love is a seal burnt inside my heart.
[11]
All of the day I want to be where You are,
Holy Father.
[12]
And it feels like there's not enough praise inside of me!
[13]
With all these words, all my heart can sing is 'Holy!'
You are holy!
[14]
Jesus Christ,
You bled Your love, laid down Yourself,
and gave me Life.
[15]
In naked shame You hung and You were lifted high.
Here I lay in awe and wonder.
[16]
I am afraid,
for no one's ever sacrificed and loved me this way!
[17]
So on my face I fall under Your heavy grace.
Here I lay in awe and wonder.
[18]
Jesus Christ,
You bled Your love, laid down Yourself,
and gave me Life.
[19]
In naked shame You hung and You were lifted high.
Here I lay in awe and wonder.
[20]
I am afraid,
for no one's ever sacrificed and loved me this way!
[21]
So on my face I fall under Your heavy grace.
Here I lay in awe and wonder.
Oh, and I wonder.
[22]
And I wonder."
[23]
I rode my bicycle later than usual today, and as soon as I got back to the house and put away my bike, I got my camera and went back, walking my bike route through our yard, through the woods, and down the dirt road in front of our house. I took many more pictures than these, but this is just a sample of what the Lord has on display right now. The lovely first days of autumn in the country are absolutely unbeatable. The beautiful haunting melody, and deeply meaningful words of the song "I Wonder" (the lyrics are interspersed among the photos above) were playing in my mind as I walked and wondered at the beauty of the Lord's talent. These photos, even having been taken with a great camera, do not even begin to do it justice.
{Note: The individual photos:
[1] Rain droplets on Dad's banana plant outside our garage door.
[2] Mom's miniature rose bush.
[3] Our young cat, Jack.
[4] Moss growing on a tree stump across the dirt road from our house and yard.
[5] I was photographing this blue-flowered vine, and the butterfly fluttered unafraid right in front of my camera lens and lit on one of the flowers!
[6] Coffee-weed flower.
[7] Our other young cat, Murphy. Both cats followed me the whole route.
[8] Goldenrod. This grassy path is on the edge of our property, between our woods on the right, and the neighbor's (Mom's cousin) cow pasture on the left.
[9] Pink flower farther down the path. The color is much more vivid in person. These rich pink flowers (don't know the plant's name) were heavily mixed in with the Goldenrod plants.
[10] A mushroom pushing up through the loam at the begining of the 'woods' part of my bike route.
[11] This horny little spider was in the process of building a web across the path, just in the short time between finishing my bike ride and getting this far down the path with my camera. I wished I had a video camera with me - it was the first time I'd actually watched a spider making a web, and I probably stood watching it for ten minutes. It was moving pretty quickly, and this is the best picture I was able to catch of it - when it stopped to rest!
[12] Orange-and-white Jack and orange-and-gray path.
[13] The purple of these wild berry clusters (don't know the name) was amazingly rich. I had to step back to get more of the bush, and this photo doesn't do it justice.
[14] Pine trees guarding the path.
[15] One of the many patches of bright green moss in the middle of the path. Also one of my favorite photographs with my Nikon so far.
[16] A wild scuppernong vine growing up a pine tree.
[17] Even though it is a parasite, I can't help but love the delicate fern-y leaves of this vine. We have it plentifully in our woods, and I'd love to move some to the yard and tame it on a trellis.
[18] Nearing the end of the 'woods' part of the path. It curves sharply to the right up at the end, and goes into our yard. The light ahead is where the dirt road leads to the highway just a little ways to the left.
[19] Pinecones (duh :) ). Not quite as focused as I thought I had it when I snapped the photo, and I was a little disappointed, but I'm still trying to get the hang of this!
[20] We've been having quite a bit of rain recently, and as I'd ridden my bicycle along, the light reflected from the tiny puddle of raindrops held in this curved leaf on the path and caught my eye. Something about it seemed so small, but so brave. I don't know what it was, but it really touched me somehow.
[21] A tiny (1 or 2 inches tall) bush or tree or something growing in the middle of the path (beside the leaf with the water in it).
[22] Right before I came out of the woods into our yard, I stopped, looked up, and took a picture of the gray, over-cast sky through this 'sky-light' in the pine tree 'roof'.
[23] The view across the dirt road, from the end of our drive - more beautiful pastureland, green woods, and cloudy sky.}
