Picking Blueberries

A friend of a friend has a U-Pick-It blueberry grove in our community. The sweetest, fattest, juiciest blueberries I've ever seen, and probably ever will.

Mom, Trissy and I went yesterday morning and spent about an hour picking. The shady place was so soothing and restful, the only noise being our berries plunking against our plastic buckets, cicadas buzzing in the near-by trees, birds singing like they were so happy they could explode with it, and an occasional cheery call from the house about a quarter-of-a-mile away on the edge of the grove.
The dew sparkled, cool and refreshing, on the grass, the leafy bushes, and the berries themselves. Everything was bright and fresh that early in the morning. Bold greens, golden light, and the powder blues and dark navies of the rich fruit.

We picked about nine and a half gallons, give-or-take a half-gallon - we ate as we picked.

{Note: This post would not be complete without a thank-you to Livvy Taylor at A Daughter's Heart blog. This sweet blogger and her post on Blueberry Picking was one of the things most influential in awakening my love of photography, and my partiality towards Nikon. Though you haven't posted in a while Livvy, I wish you the best and hope you're continuing to serve our Lord through your life, your kind personality, and your pictures. Soli Deo Gloria!}
